Preppy Laces was created by then 8-year-old Laila who found a passion in creating colorful bracelets as a hobby. She educated herself on the beading process through Youtube videos and even used her allowance to pay for her beading equipment and beads. Once Laila perfected her craft, she began to give bracelets away as presents to her friends and family. Those presents soon gave Laila the idea to start her own business to provide bracelets to people everywhere, while also saving for a puppy. Thus a mini entrepreneur and Preppy Laces was formed.
